A Look Back at the Summer Glass Workshop 2025
On June 10-11, 2025, the 14th annual glass symposium, Summer Glass Workshop, took place in Železný Brod, in the premises of the SUPŠS Železný Brod and the Detesk company. This traditional event supporting the glassmaking craft and contemporary creative approaches to glass was once again open to the general public, who could watch the creation of unique works directly in the school’s glass studio, created by experienced artists, glass masters and students.
Marta Nymsová – artist and designer
The exhibition dedicated to Marta Nymsová, an artist and textile designer, took place at the Běliště ethnographic exposition from 2 to 29 June 2025.
Marta Nymsová (1948–2022) was born in Blansko, but spent most of her life in Prague, with her final years in Liberec. The exhibition presented several fragments of her rich body of work. Nymsová was above all a textile artist – her path to textiles began with studying weaving design at the Secondary School of Textile Industry in Brno and continued through her work for prominent textile companies such as Tiba and the Institute of Home and Clothing Culture (ÚBOK) in Prague.
The Železný Brod May Uprising in Pictures
On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, we cordially invite you to the exhibition The May Uprising in Železný Brod in Pictures, which will be on display from May 1 to June 1, 2025, in the ethnographic exhibition space at Běliště. The exhibition presents the events of May 1945 in Železný Brod through previously unpublished historical photographs from museum and private collection.



Železný Brod in Times Past
The exhibition Železný Brod in Times Past, part of the museum's ethnographic exposition, presents a unique collection of historical photographs by Ing. Karel Ježek, a prominent amateur photographer from Železný Brod. His pictures capture not only Železný Brod but also its wider surroundings. He had an eye for interesting corners and architecture, while also documenting the everyday life of the town’s inhabitants in the 1930s–1950s. Thanks to a recent donation from the Ježek family, the public now has the opportunity to glimpse the past through dozens of restored prints, from which we have selected images of Železný Brod for this exhibition. Come and discover the beauty of the town as seen through the eyes of perceptive observer and passionate photographer Karel Ježek. You can visit the exhibition in our ethnographic exposition at Běliště from March 1 to April 27, 2025.



Jindřich Tockstein
A memorial exhibition on Jindřich Tockstein, engraver, painter and glass artist from Zelezny Brod was taking place in the Vlastimil Rada Municipal Gallery in Železný Brod from September 7 to October 12, 2024. The exhibition was open from Monday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.



LSD 2024 Exhibition
The Grand Opening of the results of the Summer Glass Workshops 2024 symposium took place on 21 September 2024 at 15:00 in the glass exhibition of the Municipal Museum in Železný Brod. You could have been introduced the works of foreign glass artists as well as the results of renowned Czech glass artists.

The exhibition of photographs by Josef Ventluka presents a unique view of Železný Brod. An amateur photographer captured everyday life, architecture and the unique atmosphere of the city in the post-war period with his lens.



Glass for a Living: How it works in Norway
We would like to introduce you to a non-traditional approach to business in the field of art glass, which we had the opportunity to learn about in Norway. During our recent excursion we visited several glassworks and saw how well the combination of glass production and tourism works. Our lecture will be suitable for the general public, but especially for glassmakers, students and tourism entrepreneurs. We would like to share with you our findings and experiences that this trip has provided us. The lecture will be accompanied by photographs capturing the atmosphere and beauty of Norwegian glassworks and their surroundings.
The lecture will take place on 5 June 2024 at 5 p.m. in the glass exhibition of the Municipal Museum at 37 náměstí 3. května.
Our working trip was supported by the EEA and Norway Grants - Bilateral Cooperation. Thanks to this support we have expanded our knowledge not only in the field of glassmaking, but also in the field of museum work, which we believe will help our further development.
