LSD 2024 Exhibition

The Grand Opening of the results of the Summer Glass Workshops 2024 symposium took place on 21 September 2024 at 15:00 in the glass exhibition of the Municipal Museum in Železný Brod. You could have been introduced the works of foreign glass artists as well as the results of renowned Czech glass artists.

Special attention should be paid to glass artists from Lofoten, Norway, Mette Paalgard, Heidi Kristiansen and Cathinka Maehlum, whose work is deeply influenced by the unique landscape of these magical islands. Natural scenery with sharp rocks and endless seas are reflected in their artworks, which fascinate with their originality.

Among the Czech participants of the symposium, Lukáš Šulc, a prominent personality of the Železný Brod glassmaking community, a glasshouse foreman at SUPŠS Železný Brod and an undisputed artistic talent, will attract attention. His work combines traditional techniques with modern artistic methods to create unique works of art. Ladislav Oliva Jr., also from Železný Brod, is known for his unique jewellery made of melted glass. At the symposium, however, he pleasantly surprised with his return to earlier artistic directions.

The beautiful glass jewellery was also created thanks to Ludmila Šikolová's cooperation with Detesk, and her work stands out for its delicacy and fragility. František Janák impressed with his original conception of important figures of Czech history, which he managed to materialise in glass.
