Summer Glass Workshop 2025

The fourteenth annual glass symposium, Summer Glass Workshop, will take place on June 10 and 11.
The Železný Brod Municipal Museum has invited a total of five artists to participate. They will bring their visions to life in the hot shop of the local glass school and at the Detesk company.

Eva Vlčková (*1966) is a graduate of the glass school (1987) and the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, where she studied in the glass studio of Professor Vladimír Kopecký (1993). Her works are represented in both Czech and international private and public collections. She primarily focuses on fused glass sculpture, but during the symposium, she will realize her designs at the Detesk glassworks, which is partnering with the event for the eighth time.

Renata Šikolová (*1979) has been teaching at the glass school since 2016, where she is responsible for the artistic direction of the engraved glass program. In her own creative work, she prefers free painting, often inspired by a fascination with times past. By painting monochrome images based on family photographs, she highlights these treasured moments and affirms the importance of the individuals captured in them. Her symposium project will focus on the demanding techniques of overlay glass and the Graal method.

Jaroslav Bukovský (*1976) is a graduate of the glass school (1994). His creative work primarily centers on cast glass, using molds made from refractory materials. Thematically, he is drawn to everyday life, capturing its hidden charm and interpreting it in glass with authentic exaggeration and humor.

Pavel Kopřiva (*1968) creates multimedia objects and installations, working with glass, photography, and video art. His work is marked not only by a conceptual approach, but also by a sense of ironic distance, fiction, and mystification—often reflecting on experiences rooted in post-industrial or post-totalitarian society.

Jana Válková Střílková (*1976) is a prominent representative of the mid-generation of Czech jewelry artists, as demonstrated by her frequent participation in group exhibitions. She uses natural materials such as sheep wool, beef bones, horn, and others—not only as media, but as an active link to her everyday coexistence with nature. For her, participation in the glass symposium is an experimental challenge to incorporate new materials into her work.

The symposium is held with the financial support of the Town of Železný Brod and Detesk, s.r.o
