12/2024: Artists I Knew Personally
An album of designs, drawings and photographs was donated to the museum in 2020 by Mrs. Olga Fröhlichová, the daughter of the engraver and, above all, the music pedagogue Ctibor Letošník. In the years 1948 – 1951, he attended the Železný Brod glass school, majoring in engraved glass. Although he successfully learned how to engrave glass with Professor Božetěch Medek, and with Professor Josef Černý he already made his first experiments with cast sculpture, he did not devote himself to this profession. His love for singing and music prevailed, he was already a member of the Sklář music group, in which he played the accordion.
After completing his studies at the glassmaking school, he graduated from the pedagogical gymnasium for teacher education - majoring in music education, and throughout his professional life he devoted himself to the work of a teacher. However, as can be seen from the donated album, he did not lose contact with his classmates and visual arts were very close to him throughout his life. As a memory of his teachers, classmates and personalities he met in his life, he created an album in which he collected various materials. Short memories of his studies at the glass school, medallions of artists, which he supplemented with originals and copies of drawings, graphics, paintings and photographs. In the album we can find original drawings by Jindřich Tockstein, Vladimír Linka, Zdeněk Kolářský or Miroslav Kurfirst.
