11/2024: Photo from the Ceremonial Opening of the Hiking Trail

A photograph from the ceremonial opening of the hiking trail named after Josef Kalfus, a native of Železný Brod and then Minister of Finance, which took place on October 30, 1938. The trail was established by the Železný Brod branch of the Czech Tourist Club and led from Železný Brod along the Hamštejn ridge to the summit of Kozákov. The festive event was attended by Mayor Heřman Jiránek, Alois Metelák, Jaroslav Hudský, officials of the Czech Tourist Club, a delegation from Semily, and other guests. However, Minister of Finance Josef Kalfus was not present at the ceremony.

The event was documented by amateur photographer Ing. Karel Ježek. This photograph, along with several dozen others, was later acquired by our museum from his son and grandson.
